You might be thinking, a KNIT Halloween costume? That sounds like so much work! But as you know, hats are our favorite thing to knit around here. And knit hats have the added bonus of making the perfect Halloween Costume!

There are ton of advantages to a knit hat for your Halloween costume:

• It doesn’t take long to make
• It’s warm for chilly trick-or-treating weather
• It will never be covered up by a jacket (if you live in the midwest)
• You can wear a hat on many more days than just Halloween
• If you already knit, you might already have the materials on hand
• Halloween hats are the perfect costumes for babies because they stay on and look cute even in a stroller
• Hats are so quick to make you can make matching costumes for the whole family

My favorite strategy for knit Halloween costumes is to pair a cute hat with a pair of coordinating pajamas or clothing. If you want to add accessories or things like a tail, that’s awesome. And if not, the hat is absolutely enough to make the costume on its own.
