To make the pumpkin vine:

Row 1: k2
Row 2: k1, sl1
Row 3: k1, sl1

Repeat rows 1-4 at least 5 times. Cut your yarn and thread through loops to close, Weave in that end. Use the long cast-on tail to stitch the vine tendril securely to the top of the hat at the base of the stem.
To make the eyes (make 2):
Using double pointed needles as straight needles, cast on 6 stitches with black yarn. Leave a long tail to stitch the eyes to the hat.
Row 1: knit all stitches
Row 2: purl all stitches
Row 3: k2tog, k2, ssk
Row 4: purl all stitches
Row 5: k2tog, ssk
Row 6: p2tog
Cut yarn and pull through remaining stitch to close. Weave in that end.
To make the nose:
Using double pointed needles as straight needles, cast on 4 stitches with black yarn. Leave a long tail to stitch the eyes to the hat.
Row 1: knit all stitches
Row 2: purl all stitches
Row 3: k2tog, ssk
Row 4: p2tog
Cut yarn and pull through remaining stitch to close. Weave in that end.
To assemble the hat, use their long cast-on tails to stitch the eyes and nose to the front of the hat.
Then thread a length of black yarn on your yarn needles and use a backstitch to make a cute little smile for your jack-o’-lantern’s face! Make sure these stitches are fairly loose so they don’t pull when the hat stretches. Happy Halloween, enjoy your pumpkin hat!
