This adorable Strawberry Fields Halloween Costume, is absolutely the cutest strawberry patch and you DIY it all!
This year, when Baby V was thinking about what she wanted to be for Halloween, we thought up a lot of fun ideas, but eventually decided that she wanted to be a strawberry in a strawberry patch.
I mean, a strawberry patch costume? Sign me up! Of course, once I finished it and showed my parents, my dad immediately started singing “Strawberry Fields Forever” and I felt kind of silly that I hadn’t thought of that. So Strawberry Fields Costume it is!
This was a medium level costume for me. It took some time but none of it was particularly difficult. And the best part was that in total, it cost me about $7. I am still pretty impressed with myself for that. Of course, if you don’t have the unnecessary craft stash that I do, it’ll be a little more.
I was also able to reuse the shirt and tutu from my Butterfly Costume (this one is super super cute and unexpected if you haven’t seen it before) so that also helped a lot.
I will never get tired of making a little twist to a common costume. I’ve seen lots of really cute strawberry costumes, but this one is different and the idea is that Baby V is a little strawberry in a strawberry patch under a sunny sky. It makes me think of summer trips to get u-pick berries.
She insisted that brown leggings were required “to be the dirt” that the strawberries go in, but this would be cute with green leggings as well!
Anyway, it came out so cute and I had so much fun making it. I’m enjoying hand sewing and working with felt right now so this was right up my alley. Let me tell you what you need to know to make your own Strawberry Fields costume for Halloween!

Strawberry Fields Costume Instructions
First, of course, I knit up a strawberry hat using my strawberry hat knitting pattern.
Luckily the sun and clouds shirt from Baby V’s butterfly costume still fit, but if you’d like a tutorial for making that yourself, check it out here! A plain light sky blue shirt would also be just as cute.
Then, to make the Strawberry Fields costume skirt, I used this handy tutorial from While She Naps. Except I made stitched the seeds out of white embroidery thread before sewing the strawberry together, instead of using seed beads like Abby did. It’s a super helpful tutorial and they went much faster than I thought!
Then I cut out a bunch of small white felt flowers and glued tiny yellow felt dots to their centers with craft glue. When they were dry and my strawberries were finished, I used strips of green felt (I doubled them to make them stronger) sewed to the berries as stems and sewed on the green felt leaves and then sewed everything to the top waistband of the green tutu.
The pre-cut green felt leaves were really a lifesaver for this project. I love that they have the leaf veins stamped into them and than that they are already cut out. I wasn’t sure if they would be worth it, but I think they really saved me some time.
And that was it! Piece of cake!
If you make a costume like this, I’d love to see it!
