Fall Maple Leaf Hat Knitting Pattern

This pretty Fall Maple Leaf Hat knitting pattern is the perfect autumn knit. It’s knit in the round with duplicate stitch!

For me, the time between Halloween and Thanksgiving feels weird in terms of pattern releases. Everyone around me is jumping DIRECTLY into Christmas and holidays with barely even a breath. Straight from Jack-o’-lanterns to Santas and snowmen.

I do love Christmas, but I also really really love Fall and the early weeks of November are the perfect time to enjoy it. The crunchy leaves and cool but not freezing temperatures (at least where I live) are my favorite. 

That being said, I know DIY enthusiasts need to start Christmas presents and holiday gifts early to have time to finish them. So this week, before we jump to elves and evergreens, we’re just going to take a short pause and enjoy this Maple Leaf hat knitting pattern. 

This might be my new favorite Fall knitting pattern and honestly, I think it’s a shame that I don’t have more Fall content. I’ll have to keep working on that! 

In the meantime, I hope you knit a Maple Leaf hat! It’s knit in the round with worsted weight yarn. You will need both circular knitting needles and double pointed knitting needles to complete this project.

After you finish the basic hat, the maple leaf motif is added with duplicate stitch. If you need a refresher or a are new to duplicate stitch, it’s a great technique to add cute decorations to you knitting projects after the fact and without juggling multiple strands of yarn at the same time like other types of colorwork. Sizes included: 0-3 months, (6 months, 1-2 years, 3-6 years, Child Large/Adult Small, Adult Large) Read our sizing guidelines post for more information.

Gauge: 19 stitches = 4 inches

• Worsted weight yarn
• US 7 (4.5 mm) 16″ circular knitting needles
• US 7 (4.5 mm) double pointed needles
• Yarn needle
