If you need fun and easy personalized DIY Christmas ornament ideas, check out this big list, you’ll be making your own DIY ornaments in no time!
Every year, we make personalized DIY Christmas Ornaments for relatives. I think many of our loved ones have reached the age where they don’t need more stuff but a thoughtful meaningful gift like a DIY ornament will be a big hit.
We even have relatives who don’t celebrate Christmas or don’t get a tree and they enjoy hanging our DIY Christmas ornaments in other places in their house. I tend to like ornaments that either capture something about my children (the size of their hands when they’re little, for example) or include photos so you can see how they’re changing year to year.
My parents even have a tiny little tabletop tree in their entryway that they call the “Grandparent Tree” that only has these handmade ornaments on it. In fact, you could include a small tabletop tree as part of the gift the first year if you decide to make this a holiday tradition.
I try to make these personalized DIY ornament ideas fairly simply and remember, you are likely making more than one so be sure to batch each step to make the whole process go more quickly, don’t make each ornament start to finish one at a time (unless you’re knitting them). You can let your kids help as little or as much as you like. Honestly, there are no rules for DIY.
We have also done pet ornaments or photos of the whole family, it’s always great to customize these ideas to fit you and your life.
And, as always, traditions don’t require perfection. If you skip a year or do store bought photo ornaments or you just don’t enjoy this kind of thing. That’s ok!
