Turn your cute children into adorable reindeer for these easy reindeer photo ornaments, they make the BEST holiday gift!
In our family, we have a tradition of giving handmade ornaments each year and I always try and incorporate either a picture or something else to show how the kids are growing each year.
For example, one year we did these “stained glass” ornaments with O’s photo. And another year, when Baby V was brand new, we did handprint ornaments to capture how small they both were.
I love our collection of yearly ornaments but I’ll be honest, some years’ were more work than others. And this year I really wanted something SIMPLE.
I’m super happy with how cute these easy reindeer ornaments came out. They took hardly any time at all, they’re adorable and they capture my kids just as they are in 2019. Just with cute red noses and antlers like a certain famous reindeer who shall not be named for copyright reasons… (Ok, it’s Rudolph…)
Here’s how to make your own reindeer photo ornaments!
Easy Reindeer Photo Ornaments Supply List
- Blank wood ornaments
- Photos of your child printed to fit the ornaments
- Matte Mod Podge
- Scissors
- Paintbrushes
- Red and brown acrylic craft paint
Easy Reindeer Photo Ornament Instructions
- (Optional) if you want to paint your ornaments a different color, do it first and let dry thoroughly.
- When you print your photos, use a photo editing software (I use Photoshop) to size them to fit your ornaments. I made mine into 2 3/4 inch diameter circles and had them printed 2 to a 4″ x 6″ regular photo. Then carefully cut the photos out with scissors.
- Coat the back of the photo with Mod Podge and carefully glue it to the ornament. It may help to set a book on top to make sure it stays flat.
- Use a tiny paintbrush and brown craft paint to paint antlers on your children.
- Then use tiny dots of red paint to paint the red reindeer noses.
- (Optional) you can repeat on the other side of the ornament or use the back side to paint or write the kids’ names and year to make the perfect gift for family members!
