Double Brim Heart Hat Knitting Pattern

This adorable Double Brim Heart Hat knitting pattern for babies and toddlers has a double thickness, warm and cozy heart patterned brim!

A couple of years ago, when I was designing my back to basics knitting pattern series (which is a series of wonderful, basic, well-written hat patterns) I designed a double brim hat and it’s fantastic. Easily the warmest coziest pattern I have.

Well, this year, I had the bright idea to do a Double Brim Heart Hat knitting pattern to take it up a notch. Because if there’s anything we all really need in February it’s an extra layer of warmth, am I right?

This hat is knit all in one piece, you attach the double brim layers together as you go, so it’s really really easy. And with two full layers of stockinette stitch in the brim, it will keep your little one’s ears really really warm. This one is great for windy days too!

Don’t worry, the pattern includes step by step photos along with the instructions so you can see exactly how to make it! I never leave you all hanging do I?

You can’t quite see it in all of the photos but I chose to make the inside double brim in light pink so there’s a little interest inside the hat. It’s really very cute when you see it. You can choose to do an accent color like that, or knit it all one color, it’s really up to you. Either way, another thing I love about this easy baby hat knitting pattern is that the method I explain makes for a really neat and tidy inside/wrong side. It’s a true win!

(includes Sizes 0-3 months, 6 months, 12 months, 2T+)

Gauge: 20 stitches = 4 inches

• Worsted weight yarn
• US 7 (4.5 mm) 16″ circular knitting needles
• US 7 (4.5 mm) double pointed needles
• Yarn needle
