Scalloped Fade Hat Knitting Pattern

This pretty Scalloped Fade Hat knitting pattern is an easy knit that has an allover pattern of ombré scallops that fade from light to dark.

I am a little (ok a lot) bit obsessed with my Scalloped Fade Hat knitting pattern. I totally love it in these pretty shades of purple. You can’t go wrong with scalloped edges right now and I love how these fade from bright to dark in each row.

The ombré effect looks tricky but it’s actually an easy pattern to knit with easy and clear instructions and charts to knit your own in any of four sizes from newborn to toddler.

You can knit this pretty pattern in any color that you like, you just need to select worsted weight yarn in a light, medium and dark shade of the same color. Choosing three yarns that work to create a subtle but noticeable fade are key to making this baby hat knitting pattern look awesome so take care and consider knitting a swatch with all three colors so you can see that they really blend well.

I’ve definitely chosen my colors poorly in the past before and started knitting something that was supposed to be an ombré fade only to notice halfway through that one of the colors I’d chose was too bright or too muddy and didn’t work well with the others. As usual, a swatch will help you avoid that problem!

I mean, don’t get me started on how many problems swatches will help you avoid. It’s the thing we all know to be completely true and yet tell ourselves time and time again that it’s not actually true and we can skip it without a problem. That never works out, friends, am I right?
