Knit up an adorable heart and envelope with our easy Valentine Love Letter knitting pattern!
Good morning! Are you ready for Valentine’s Day? Read to knit a love letter? I’m totally in love with new Love Letter knitting pattern. In fact, of all of the things I make for my kids, the objects are by far their favorite. There’s something fun about seeing a knit version of real thing. Baby V is particularly delighted by the knit pencil and crayons!
But this Love Letter is now a sure winner, there’s something so delightful about unbuttoning the little button and finding a cute heart shape inside. This one would make a fantastic Valentine’s Day gift for someone you love. And, by the way, it would be super easy to actually send in the mail, it’s not too big and would fit perfectly in a little padded mailer or small flat rate box. How fun would it be to get one of these in your mailbox?!
I would also rate this pattern as pretty easy. The seed stitch heart shape is all knit in one piece, so fiddly short rows or joining of anything, only two ends to weave in. And because it’s seed stitch, it stays nice and flat on its own without curling up.
I also decided to use linen stitch on the envelope which is one of my all-time favorite stitches, it’s so beautiful (but also so easy) and it makes the envelope also resist curling. You can definitely block these shapes to even out your stitches and make everything nice and crisp, but it’s not required! Yay!

Secure with a knot and weave in that end on the inside of the envelope flap. Weave in the other end. Block your envelope shape (optional).
To assemble your envelope, lay the envelope shape down wrong side up. Fold up the bottom edge up to just before where the decrease starts. Pin in place. Thread some white yarn on your yarn needle and sew up the two sides of the envelope. Weave in ends inside.
Fold the envelope flap down and mark where the button loop hits the front of the envelope. Sew a button securely to the front of the envelope at this spot. This is a not an item for babies or small children.

Hello!
I have an issue with Row 8 when making the heart. I’m ending up with 4 stitches left after k2tog?? Hopefully, you can help me figure where I went wrong!
Thank you, Dona

Hi Dona!
I have to apologize, we found an error in rows 4-7. That last kfb should not be there at the end and that’s why you’re getting an extra 4 stitches. We have updated the pattern on the website as well as on Ravelry and Etsy. Thank you so much for your email so we could make this correction!
Take care, Cassie

ThankYou! Appreciate the quick response! Cranked out the 3 little hearts I needed in no time❤️I like that they are made a little different than other knitted heart shapes I’ve made – much quicker! Going to go purchase the pdf. Looking forward to making the little envelope, too!
