This cute sweet shamrock hat knitting pattern has a rainbow stripe brim and a cute shamrock design on the front in duplicate stitch!
I have a couple of shamrock designs already, but since they’re lucky, I figure you can never have too many! And hey, did you know that shamrocks and 4-leaf clovers are NOT the same thing? I know, shocking! Shamrocks only have 3 leaves! What?!
This year, if you’ve been following along, I was having a lot of fun with embroidery in general and have become enamored with using duplicate stitch in knitting to add cute designs to knit items after they are finished.
There are some great advantages to adding designs with duplicate stitch. The actual knitting part goes faster and you aren’t juggling more than one color of yarn at a time. Plus, with duplicate stitch, you can adjust exactly where you want to put the shamrock motif whereas, if you want to change that with stranded knitting, you have to frog.
I have a full tutorial for knitting duplicate stitch, if you haven’t done it before, I promise, it really is easy! Give it a try!
I also decided this cute shamrock hat knitting pattern needed a fun little rainbow brim. This one is just one round of ribbing per 6 colors of the rainbow and it adds a fun little pop of color that I just love with that medium green background yarn. This one is a new fave for sure!
