This adorable radiant rainbow hat knitting pattern is knit in soft light blue worsted weight yarn with a fun duplicate stitch rainbow added to the front!
Will I ever tire of rainbow hat knitting patterns? No, no I will not. This cute one I’m calling the Radiant Rainbow Hat knitting pattern and it’s a new favorite. This easy baby hat knitting pattern includes my super duper tried and testes basic easy baby hat knitting pattern in light blue with and adorable rainbow and cloud motif added afterwards with duplicate stitch for knitting.
If you are new to duplicate stitch in knitting, it’s kind of like embroidery but a lot easier. I have a detailed how to do duplicate stitch in knitting tutorial that will show you how to add this rainbow to your baby hat easily. It’s a piece of cake and you’re not juggling lots of different strands of yarn like you would with Fair Isle or Intarsia knitting. It’s a win!
I do recommend paying attention when you add the rainbow, it’s symmetrical but one wrong stitch, can throw you off. I promise you, I am saying this from experience, ha! Stitch markers or an invisible ink fabric pen might also help you keep your place as you add the rainbow.
With duplicate stitch in knitting, I get the best results if I work from the bottom to the top. That may mean, that the way the color line up, you may need to temporarily set one color down, add a few stitches in another color, and then go back to the first. But go ahead and do it in the way that makes the most sense to you! Are you ready to knit your own cute baby rainbow hat?
