The zipper hat knitting pattern is a fun bold pattern you can knit for your baby or toddler in any two colors of worsted weight yarn!
Sometimes I start writing these posts and I have to explain the name I have given to my most recent baby hat knitting pattern.
This week, I think I do not. It should be pretty clear why this one is called the zipper hat knitting pattern. Ironically we have had a rash of busted and broken and stuck zippers in our house recently. That’s one of those things I find infinitely frustrating. You try to be gentle and then nothing really works except tugging with all your strength even though you KNOW you might just be making it worse.
I even ordered a zipper repair kit off the internet to try and fix one. It sort of worked. But I needed one little piece and now I have an entire box of 200 other zipper pieces in various sizes. THIS is precisely the kind of thing that makes us all feel like we’re drowning in stuff in our homes, do you know what I mean? And then, even if I put the leftover zipper bits in with my sewing stuff, I’m sure I won’t be able to find them (or I’ll forget I even have them) the next time I have a broken zipper. I mostly just have to laugh at that, though, right? Small problems.
Luckily, this is one zipper that will never come unzipped! I know, I’m so hilarious. I chose to knit my sample in a tomato red and neutral tan and I love how bold and fun it is. The zipper hat would look good knit in two colors that are closer in value as well though. The pattern would just be a little more subtle which would be equally as awesome!
