You’ll love these summer camp crafts you can do at home this summer, it’ll feel just like you’re at sleepaway camp!
I absolutely loved summer camp and summer camp crafts when I was a kid. I only went to sleepaway camp twice but I was also a girl scout for a long time and there is definitely a lot of crossover between the two experiences and they were both the best.
I mean, is it any surprise that I enjoyed activities that heavily feature craft projects? No. No it is not!
My oldest also really loved summer camp. He went to a day camp near our house that had a bunch of themed rooms and the kids pretty much got to direct their own time and projects. They had rooms with yarn and cardboard and fabric. They had classic summer camp crafts and they also had coding. He was in heaven.
He was extremely sad after the first day when I picked him up and I thought that he didn’t like it. I felt terrible! And then he said, ” I don’t want to leave!” Ha! I can relate to that. If they had adult crafting summer camp, I would feel the same way.
So I thought today we’d talk about summer camp crafts you can do at home. I already know that some of the standard summer camps near us are not running like normal this year so we will for sure be needing some fun activities. And I love this list of ideas because they’re all like the nicest possible version of the craft. These ideas are NOT just for kids! (And nary a lanyard in sight!)
Before you get started, here are some classic summer camp craft supplies you might want to have on hand:
- embroidery floss
- yarn
- string
- popsicle sticks
- tie dye
- wood slices
- woodburning tool
- paracord
- gimp
- rope
- sticks (omg, you can buy sticks on the internet!)
- rocks
