Rubber Duck Hat Knitting Pattern

A lovely reader asked me for a rubber duck hat knitting pattern for a rubber duck themed baby shower, and I happily obliged. In elementary school rubber ducks are also kind of like troll dolls were in the 90’s and kids are collecting them so it was also excellent timing in that way!

I am really pleased with how this one turned out, I designed the cute rubber duck on the front of this easy hat knitting pattern but it still needed something more and bubbles were the right answer!

This cute rubber duck pattern is knit in the round on circular knitting needles and double pointed knitting needles with worsted weight yarn. The rubber duck and bubbles designs are added at the end with duplicate stitch for knitting.

When designing this cute rubber duck hat, I also tried something I haven’t done before. For the medium sized bubbles, I felt like they didn’t quite look round enough so I added some extra single straight stitches around the edges to round out the shapes a little bit. It made a huge difference! Technically that would be more like embroidery than duplicate stitch but if you’ve been here for any length of time, you know that there are no knitting police and we like to try new things!

Gauge: 19 stitches = 4 inches
