The Figgy Pudding Hat knitting pattern is the cutest Christmas baby hat pattern to knit for your baby or toddler, your little one will look delicious!
Ok, so we all know about figgy pudding from the Christmas song, right? I can very clearly remember singing it when I was a kid in our winter holiday concert and we all held up little pudding cups in the middle. I thought it would be pudding that tasted like a Fig Newton.
Obviously I now it’s not actually pudding in the sense that we know pudding here in the US. It’s more of a cake type thing and pudding is just the British word for dessert.
But as an American, I have never had or even SEEN figgy pudding in real life. Have you? I mean, it sure makes for an adorable hat, but my figgy pudding hat knitting pattern is 100% based off of pictures of the classic Christmas dessert I found on the internet.
I think it’s sort of in the same family as fruit cake (which I have also never had)? I really need to visit England during the Christmas season….for research. Yeah. That’s it. Research…. (speaking of research, this is very interesting.)
I would also like to suggest that we start calling dessert pudding here as well. It’s a way more charming term. American English is really lacking the charming words and pleasant euphemisms department.
Anyway, I think this is only my second dessert based knitting pattern. I have an ice cream hat. But otherwise only fruits and vegetables. I’ve got to remedy this? What other dessert based baby hats should we knit??
In the meantime, we’ll focus on my new figgy pudding hat knitting pattern. It’ll make your little one look delicious this holiday season!
