Make up some quick & cute double sided acrylic snowflake photo ornaments, they’re perfect for holiday gift giving!
Well, these double sided acrylic snowflake photo ornaments are both a mouthful and a learning curve. On the plus side, they turned out exactly like I imagined them in my mind.
On the minus side, there was slightly more glue involved than planned. But such is crafting, am I right? When haven’t we all used slightly more glue than planned?!
The stars of these cute snowflake photo ornaments (besides the cute children) are the pretty acrylic ornaments themselves and the super fun and sparkly holographic snowflake shapes. I am in love with them and want to use them in all sorts of projects now. And I can do that because I have about a gazillion left!
The BEST part about these ornaments though, is that they’re double sided. I put two different photos of both kids on mine but I also made an extra that has one child on each side which is also super adorable, it’s up to you! And if you wanted just one photo, you could back it with some cute scrapbook paper or just a lot more snowflakes.
I do have a small caveat which is that something was up with my camera and most of the photos I took during this project are blurry. I don’t know why. Just when I think I feel ok about my photography, weird things like that happen. But the good news is I took some video and enough pictures that you’ll get the gist. And honestly, the supply list is the most important information for these easy DIY Christmas ornaments anyway. Are you ready to get started?

Double Sided Acrylic Snowflake Photo Ornament Instructions
- Measure the inside of your acrylic photo ornaments and get your photos printed to fit inside. I added the year in my photo editing software and cut them to size. The small silver dots at the bottom of my ornaments are magnets and are meant to hold the photos inside but it turned out they’re not strong enough, hence the aforementioned extra glue. Even so, I would recommend sizing your photos so those magnets can still touch each other.
- Cut your photos to size. Then, using craft glue, glue one of each photo wrong sides together. It helps to put them under something to heavy to make sure they dry flat.
- Next, using tiny dots of craft glue, glue snowflake shapes to each side of the photos. Try your best to keep the snowflakes within the dimensions of the acrylic ornaments but if any arms stick out, you can trim them with scissors later. These snowflakes look nice from both sides so it’s ok if they stick out past the photos.
- Assemble your ornaments. This is where I needed some teeny tiny dots of glue at the magnets and at the top corners of the photos on both sides to hold everything together. I recommend a strong industrial glue like the one I have listed that dries clear. They really don’t need much, just enough to hold the ornaments together a little better than the magnets alone. But make sure your photos are straight, once that glue dries you can’t open them back up!
- Put the ornaments under something heavy to dry.
- Add some ribbon and your cute double sided acrylic snowflake photo ornaments are ready to hang!
