Knit up these adorable sibling hats in any different combination and any of your 5 sizes from baby to child with this fun knitting pattern!
Grammar note: Is it lil’ or li’l…? There seems to be a general internet consensus that it can be either, with a slight leaning towards li’l possibly being a bit more technically correct. So I picked lil’ because I think it’s a little easier to read which is important if you’re knitting words. But, you know, if you disagree, we can still be friends!
I do not think I could possibly be more excited about this Sibling Hats pattern you guys. A lot of my design ideas come from targeted sit-down brainstorm sessions… and then a few, usually the really good ones, just hit me out of the blue!
This was one of those. It just popped into my head and I basically HAD to start knitting them right that very second. I love that new project enthusiasm, you’ve got to harness that, am I right?
And the reason I love this pattern SO much is that I think it’s perfect for you, my readers. This knitting pattern is right up your collective alley. A lot of you knit as gifts for either your own children or grandchildren/nieces/nephews. And especially at the end of the year, a lot of you knit for holiday gift giving.
These would make amazing gifts!
Here are 3 more great situations where the Sibling Hats knitting pattern is awesome:
- Family photos! How cute, would that be?!
- Holiday cards! See above regarding cuteness…
- New baby announcements! Put your older child in a “Big Bro, Big Sis or Big One hat and see how long it takes your friends and family to notice!
- Gender reveals! I know, these are not something everyone is into, but if you are, this cute baby hat knitting pattern is perfect!
I mean, you can even combine them and do new baby announcement family photos! I’ve seen that and it’s so fun!
I need to cool it with the exclamation points, sorry. But I just think this pattern is the best.
Finally, I made sure to include gender neutral options for this pattern. There are a variety of reasons some of you might want them and I wanted to make sure that if you want it, it’s there!
You can knit these cute siblings hats in any combination that fits your family. I knit “Big Bro” and “Lil’ Sis” for my kids…
But here are some more combos…
More than two kids? No prob! Just knit more hats!
Oh! And another exciting feature! This pattern includes a child size! The child size should fit kids over age 4-5. It’s pretty large and stretchy and in the photos my 9 year old is comfortably wearing the child size.

This is a darling design I could send along and the nurses could give them to the big boy or girl who often feels left out!
Once again you have hit the bulls eye!!

I love your patterns! Have you considered offering them on LoveCrafts? Etsy is fine, but having one’s patterns stored in a permanent online library is mighty convenient.
Have a great weekend!
