Peekaboo Elf Hat Knitting Pattern

Last year I designed a cute hat with Santa’s face on the front in duplicate stitch. This year it seemed like it was time for an elf hat knitting pattern. I decided this one needed to be a Peekaboo Elf Pattern. If you aren’t familiar with my Peekaboo patterns, they feature cute animals or elves peeking out over the folded brim of you cozy knit hat.

This pattern uses duplicate stitch in knitting which I believe is the easiest way to add a design like this. Its quick to do after the fact and it makes the knitting part go much faster because you don’t have to juggle multiple color of yarn!

If you don’t know how to do duplicate stitch in knitting, don’t worry, I’ve got an in-depth step by step tutorial for you. It’s really easy, a little bit like embroidery and I actually find it really relaxing!

This cute Peekaboo Elf Knitting pattern is knit in the round with worsted weight yarn on both circular knitting needles and double pointed knitting needles. When you have completed knitting the easy folded brim hat knitting pattern, you will add the elf motif to the front of the yarn with worsted weight yarn and a yarn needle. And that’s it!

Make sure to personalize your elf in any way you like. Obviously, you can choose an elf skin color yarn of any color. You could also make their hat striped or add a little pom pom on top. It’s up to you!
