The double bow hat knitting pattern requires no double pointed needles for the decrease but it does have double bows on top! This easy knitting pattern for babies and kids is adorable and easy!
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years of running this site, it’s that a lot of people don’t like using double pointed knitting needles. And I TOTALLY get it. They are fiddly and kind of a pain in the you-know-what. Honestly, I learned magic loop simply so I could retire my DPNs and it was 100% worth it. But while that’s one sort of solution, it’s a little tricky to learn so many of you prefer to just avoid those double pointed needles.
In that case, today’s pattern is perfect for you! There are no double pointed needles required for the top of this hat! Just your regular 16″ circular knitting needle and that’s it!
Now, you may still need two DPN’s to knit the icords for the bows, but there honestly is not much easier in the world that knitting icords, so don’t let that deter you. And hey, if anyone has an icord maker that both doesn’t cost a lot and is easy and fast to use, let me know!
Anyway, this cute double bow hat is knit in neutral tan and white stripes and then I added pink bows to the top. But you could knit it all solid or any other color combination.
I do, however, recommend that you take a yarn needle and add a couple stitches of pink yarn to secure the bows both so that they keep their shape and so that they stay attached to the hat. If you have a little one who yanks on their hat you will immediately understand why. But it’s also a good idea to secure the bows for safety reasons as well.
So, are you ready to get started? Let’s do it!
