This adorable double pom pom hat knitting pattern is a fun twist on classic kids’ beanie with an easy bind off and two cute poms on top!

You guys, this is one of those kids’ hat knitting patterns that you have to see in person. Baby V wore her double pom pom hat to play outside the other day and the poms kind of bounce around when she runs. It’s the cutest.
I have been meaning to knit up a hat like this for a while and have no idea what took me so long. This is a great pattern because there is no decrease section which means no fiddling with multiple double pointed knitting needles. I know a lot of you will like that!
This cute double pom pom hat is finished with an easy three needle bind off, but don’t worry if you’ve never done that before, the pdf pattern version includes step by step photos! It’s much easier than it sounds, I promise.
I want to knit another one with different colored pom poms, I think that would be so cute! If you knit a double pom pom hat, be sure to share it with me! I love to see what you guys create!

With a long tail cast on, cast on 64 stitches onto your 16” circular knitting needles and join to knit in the round.
(k1,p1) and repeat in a rib stitch for 1.5 inches. This will be your folded brim. Then knit all stitches until the hat is 6.5 inches long with the brim folded up.
Finish the hat with a three needle bind off. You can switch to a longer cable needle or two straight needles and divide the stitches evenly in the middle to do the three needle bind off. (want step by step instructions for this step? Upgrade to the pdf printable pattern above!)
To make 2 Pom Poms:
Either use a pom pom maker according to its directions or make them by hand. To make pom poms by hand, check out my super easy pom pom making instructions!
Make two poms. Thread the long end of one center tie on your yarn needle and use it to sew each pom pom to the top of the hat at the corners. Make sure they are attached securely as this is an item for babies.
Happy Knitting!
