This classic Christmas striped stocking cap knitting pattern features fun holiday stripes and a rolled brim, it’s a fun knit for your baby or toddler!
I have lots of Christmas knitting patterns, but I think this classic Christmas Striped Stocking Cap knitting pattern is a great one and would make a fantastic gift. I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t like to get this as a gift.
Bonus points if you knit more than one for matching sibling photos. Even better with matching jammies! Can you imagine the adorableness?!
I like this easy Christmas baby hat knitting pattern so much that I knit it in two different color combinations. Red and white is bold and fun and kind of Santa-ish and red and green is a little more classic and elf-like. I can’t possibly decide which one I like better.
And hey, this pattern does NOT have to only be for Christmas. You can knit a striped stocking cap for your baby or toddler in any color combination. You could choose your little one’s favorite colors, or the colors of a sports team or college or magical wizarding school house…whatever floats your boat!
I love a flexible knitting pattern like this!
If you knit a striped stocking cap, I would totally love to see it, please link your project up over on Ravelry!

Classic Christmas Striped Stocking Cap Knitting Pattern Instructions
(0-3 month size)
Using long-tail cast on, cast on 56 stitches onto your circular needles with white yarn. Join to knit in the round and knit all stitches for 16 rounds. The brim of the hat will begin to roll up as you go.
Switch to the red yarn and knit all stitches for 3 rounds. Then switch to the white and knit all stitches for 3 rounds. Continue on knitting 3 rounds in each color in a stripe pattern until the hat is about 4 inches long after the rolled brim. Continue the stripe pattern of 3 rounds per color through the decrease section as well.
Decrease (divide your stitches evenly between 3 double pointed needles or use magic loop):
