This adorable Valentine’s Day XOXO stripe hat knitting pattern has a cute pattern of x’s and o’s, perfect for your baby or toddler!
I think X’s and O’s are my favorite Valentine’s Day related pattern. It’s cute, it’s kind of understated, it looks especially adorable on a baby… For this cute and easy baby hat knitting pattern I wanted to have a smaller scale XO pattern and these cute XOXO stripes really fit the bill.
This is a great hat knitting pattern to practice your colorwork with because there are no long floats and there are rows in between the stripes of plain knitting to give you a little break. It also has a simple pattern that’s really easy to remember after you get started so you don’t have to concentrate TOO hard. That makes it knit up really quickly.
I always think, every year, that I’m out of Valentine’s Day ideas, but I’m always wrong. I guess that’s how the creative process works? Anyway, I knit up the XOXO stripe hat in a kind of tone on tone color combo, but it would look really really cute in bright contrasting colors too!
I chose a light pink and pale pink but I really considered a light lavender and medium purple. Or maybe a red and white? Basically, you can’t go wrong with this one.
There really is nothing cuter than a baby or toddler dressed up for Valentine’s Day. It’s like a tiny little bit of completely pure distilled love in person form. (I mean, can you tell I like babies, ha!) I hope some of you knit this one this year so I can see it on your little ones, that is my absolute favorite part of this job!
If you knit an XOXO stripe hat this year, don’t forget to share it with me!
