Diamond Snow Hat Knitting Pattern

The Diamond Snow Hat knitting pattern is a pretty fair isle pattern to knit for babies and toddlers this winter!

There are times when I have no idea what to name a new pattern. And then there are times when it seems obvious and it’s easy peasy! This Diamond Snow Hat knitting pattern was the latter. It sort of reminds me of snow falling on a range of mountains and it really makes me think of cozy winter.

I love the row of diamonds and the nested triangles, it’s so so good and geometric but natural at the same time. I think this pattern looks fantastic in gray and white with a ice blue brim, but you could choose bolder colors for a totally different look.

If you haven’t knit a lot of fair isle knitting patterns before, this is a fun one. It’s not super complicated and there aren’t long floats or anything particularly tricky. You can just practice and work on your tension. The result is super satisfying.

I also think this hat would look adorable with a pom pom on top if you really wanted it to be extra wintery, but I skipped it for my sample. But again, you can customize however you like!

The Diamond Snow hat knitting pattern is knit in the round with worsted weight yarn and size US 7 (4.5 mm) needles. You’ll need both a 16 inch circular knitting needle and a set of double pointed knitting needles in the same size. This pattern does require basic knowledge of stranded or fair isle knitting techniques though as I mentioned you don’t need to be super advanced to make it.
