This adorable snowman knitting pattern, knit flat with worsted weighty yarn, is the perfect holiday decor pattern!
I don’t know why it took me this long to design a snowman knitting pattern. I have multiple snowman hat knitting patterns. One with earmuffs, one with a scarf, and even one where the pom pom on top is the snowman!
But since you all love my various knit Christmas tree knitting patterns ( I have a cabled Christmas tree knitting pattern and a plaid Christmas tree knitting pattern) I though a snowman decor knitting pattern should be next.
And of course, it can also be a snowwoman or snowperson or snowchild. You can even name them!
I also made kind of a surprising change with this knitting pattern. I have almost always preferred knitting in the round to knitting flat because I don’t love seaming and I know that I knit faster in the round. But I knew it would be much easier to add the snowman’s buttons and face if this one was knit flat and so that’s what I did.
Spoiler alert: its’s super easy AND I came up with kind of an ingenious way to make the different body segments, if I do say so myself! You will be shocked at how simple it is! I think I’m definitely going to keep doing things this way in future projects. In fact, just now, as I was typing this, I thought of something that’s on my needles RIGHT NOW that would work really well with this method. Gotta love a brainstorm!
Anyway, though this snowman is knit flat with worsted weight yarn, there are still a few other techniques that you will need to know to finish this project (and don’t worry if you don’t I either have a tutorial for you, or a quick google will set you up for success!)
To complete this snowman knitting project you will need to know how increase and decrease stitches, how to insert a lifeline, how to do duplicate stitch and how to sew up a knit seam with an invisible ladder stitch or similar.
You will also need either dried white beans or poly pellets to put in the bottom of your snowperson so they have some weight and are able to stand up. And that’s it! Are you ready to knit your own snowman knitting pattern?
