We recently talking about k3tog (knit 2 together) and I said it was a knitting stitch that you probably wouldn’t run into very frequently. Well, today we’re leaning p3tog (purl 3 together) and you’ll probably run into this stitch even less! But it’s still good to know so that when you do, you know how to work it.
Purl 3 together (p3tog) is a left-leaning double decrease knit with purl stitches and most often used on the wrong side of your work.

How To p3tog (purl 3 together)
- Insert the right knitting needle through the first 3 stitches on the left needle purlwise all at the same time.
- Wrap the yarn around the tip of the right needle as you would for a normal purl stitch.
- Pull the yarn through all 3 stitches together.
- Drop the 3 original stitches from the left knitting needle.
- You will have one stitch on the right needle.
