The Floppy Bunny Hat knitting pattern has adorably floppy pink lined bunny ears and a cute bunny face on the front, this is an easy knitting pattern for babies, kids, and adults!
So look, I already have several bunny hat knitting patterns on my site. I even have a bunny bonnet and a bunny headband But hear me out….they all have tall upright bunny ears. I didn’t have one with long floppy bunny ears! It was a horrible oversight!
I decided this week that I need to rectify that immediately and started knitting. The ears on my Floppy Bunny Hat knitting pattern are longer and floppier than ever before! I feel like I’m writing some kind of weird infomercial, but it’s true and kids love a long floppy bunny ear.
I also love these kind of two layer ear constructions because the ears are sturdy and keep their shape but aren’t too heavy. And the pink ear lining makes them extra cute! I think this one might be my favorite bunny hat knitting pattern yet!
If you knit a floppy bunny hat, I would love it if you’d share it with me, I love to see what you all make! Are you ready to knit? Let’s do it!

To assemble the ears:
Lay one white outer ear down wrong (purl) side up and lay one pink inner ear wrong (purl) side down on top. Use the long cast-on tail from the pink inner ear to stitch the inner ear to the outer ear. Be careful to only catch the purl loops on the tan outer ear so your stitches don’t show through to the other side.
To attach the ears:
Thread one long white cast on tail on your yarn needle and use it to stitch the ear securely to the top side of the hat as shown. Repeat with other ear.
To finish the hat:
Thread some pink yarn on your yarn needle and use it to stitch 4 pink stitches in decreasing width to make the nose as shown. Weave in those ends inside the hat.
Thread a length of charcoal yarn on your yarn needle and use it to stithc three whiskers on either side of the nose as shown. Make sure the stitches are fairly loose so they don’t pull when the hat stretches.
Finally, stitch to small slanted stitches for the bunny eyes and three more stitches below the nose in the shape of an updside-down T for the mouth. Weave in these ends inside the hat.
Happy Knitting!
