Yummy Ice Cream Cone Hat Knitting Pattern

Perfect for summer, this duplicate stitch ice cream cone hat knitting pattern is a fun and easy knit for anyone!

I’ve seen a lot of knit hats that look like ice cream cones, but I wanted to work up one with a cute ice cream cone on the front this year. It can be hard to decide what to knit in the summer or come up with ideas for summer babies or summer knit gifts. What could be cuter than a triple scoop ice cream cone!

And yes, knit hats for summer right seem silly, but think of all those summer babies in chilly industrial air conditioning! And hey, a cute triple scoop cone makes for a cute hat any time of year, if you want!

This cute easy hat pattern is knit in the round using worsted weight yarn on US 7 (4.5mm ) circular knitting needles. You will need double pointed knitting needles (or the magic loop method) to complete the project.

The ice cream cone design is added at the end with duplicate stitch. If you need a duplicate stitch tutorial (or refresher) we have a detailed tutorial right here!

If you prefer to knit flat instead of knitting in the round, please note that while this pattern does not contain instructions to knit the hat flat, you can always substitute in my Knit Flat Hat knitting pattern for the base hat and then use the ice cream cone color chart to add the design to that at the end, easy peasy!

Sizes included: 0-3 months, (6 months, 1-2 years, 3-6 years, Child Large/Adult Small, Adult Large) Read our sizing guidelines post for more information.

Gauge: 19 stitches = 4 inches

• Worsted weight yarn
• US 7 (4.5 mm) 16″ circular knitting needles
• US 7 (4.5 mm) double pointed needles
• Yarn needle
