Puppy Dog Bonnet Knitting Pattern

Knit up this adorable garter stitch puppy dog bonnet knitting pattern in one of 4 sizes for your baby or toddler!

Many moons ago, I knit up a dog hat, it was so long ago, that a tiny O modeled it for me. Apparently it’s genetic to make silly faces when you model a puppy dog hat/bonnet? Anyway, I love that hat, I learned a lot designing it and it’s always been one of my faves.

Now I’m taking it on one more time as a puppy dog bonnet. Because I have a profound love for bonnets on babies and small children.

Would it be weird if I sent Baby V off to college in a bonnet? No. Good.

This cute baby bonnet is knit in soft squishy garter stitch which means it’s SUPER easy to knit and warm & cozy to wear. It’s nice and stretchy and soft too. Basically I have discovered a renewed love for garter stitch and I want to garter stitch everything.

Anyone else know what I mean?

The nice thing about garter stitch, besides the texture, of course, is that it doesn’t curl up on the edges. Hooray! That’s one of the most frustrating things about knitting ever. Curling edges. But this one has no curling edges. Blocking is optional!

I mean, nothing every suffers from blocking, but you can totally get away with not doing it with garter stitch. And anything that makes a project got faster is a win in my book!

And because the puppy dog ears are knit in garter stitch too, you only have to 1 per side, there is no wrong side and right side. And the ears also don’t curl up. Yay!
