To assemble the hat:
Take two of the same color ear halves and put them right (knit) sides together and use one of the cast on tails to whipstitch them together along the sides and top, leaving the flat bottom cast-on edge open. Turn the ears right side out. Then use the remaining cast on tail to stitch each assembled ear securely to the top of the hat.
Use the long cast on tail from the nose to stitch it to the front center of the hat. Use its long cast on tail to stitch the eye patch to the front of the hat. Thread a length of charcoal yarn on your yarn needle and use it to stitch three long stitches to make the mouth, as shown. Then make two short horizontal stitches for the eyes. Allow the eye stitches to curve downward in a U shape and secure that shape with one tiny stitch in the center. Make sure those stitches are fairly loose so they don’t pull when the hat stretches.
Finally use its long cast on tail to stitch the tag to the collar. Then thread a short length of brown yarn on your yarn needle and use it to make one stitch at the top of the tag.
And that’s it! Enjoy your Playful Puppy Dog Hat!
