Knit up this cute little punkin hat for your Halloween punkin, it has a row of cute little orange pumpkins on the back!
I love a fun fair isle knitting pattern like my new punkin hat. I mean, how cute is this one?! It says “punkin” on the front and then has a row of adorable orange pumpkins around the back!
It’s the perfect fall baby hat. Seriously, people will LOVE it.
Plus I know “punkin” is a common nickname, so I hope those of you who call your baby “punkin” are super excited about it!
If you’ve never knit fair isle or stranded knitting before, this baby hat knitting pattern is a perfect project to practice with because it’s only a few rows worth of two color knitting.
It’s enough to practice your tension and floats but then you’re finished and can go right back to comfortable stockinette stitch before you start to get tired and frustrated.
I think that’s the best way to practice a new knitting skill. Like if you’re learning to knit cables, don’t start with a full Irish fisherman’s sweater with some kind of crazy cable motif on the entire thing. Pick a project with one cabled area.
Same for fair isle. Don’t for a full traditional fair isle baby sweater, pick a smaller project like a fair isle baby hat. And then work your way up!
Baby V is for sure going to wearing her Punkin hat all fall long. She gets pretty excited about holiday/seasonal baby hats now that she’s a little older and she usually can’t wait to show them off when I take her to school. It’s fun to pick which hat to wear each morning as we head out the door!
