Learn how to decrease with an sk2p (slip 1, knit 1 , pass slipped stitch over) in this easy video and step by step photo tutorial!
Sk2p is a left leaning double decrease used in knitting projects when you need to decrease the number of stitches on your needles. A double decreases takes away two stitches each time you do it.
It also sounds super scary.
I sometimes think knitting speak is one of the reasons people are scared to learn to knit. Like seriously, even I don’t always remember how to do an sk2p. And let’s not even get into the fact that there is also an s2kp. I mean, come on!
But I guess we can’t be writing out “slip one, knit two together, pass slipped stitch over” ever time you want to knit a left leaning double decrease because then patterns would be 9 million pages long.
So, let’s learn how to do an sk2p and then you’ll know for next time! And if you can’t keep it straight, just pin this page or bookmark it and come on back the next time you need it!
