Knit up an adorable Fair Isle Heart Hat with this cute and easy pattern!

Oh my gosh you guys, I just think this heart hat is the cutest. Adorable heart pattern? Check! Giant fluffy pom pom? Check! I mean seriously. I kind of want to permanently attach it to Baby V’s head! Little Valentine Fair Isle Heart Hat Knitting Pattern | littleredwindow.com

And it’s fun because it’s my first pattern for you guys that uses Fair Isle knitting which, if you’re not familiar with the technique is when you knit with more than one color/strand of yarn at the same time and instead of cutting the yarn and weaving in ends between colors like you might for wide stripes, for example, you carry the yarn color not currently in use along the back side of the project until you need it again! I know, it sounds scary and hard. Like cables, for a long time I thought it would be too. But guess what? It’s totally not. (I’m no Alice Starmore, I promise…) Especially with a simple pattern like this. There’s only one key to this pattern, because you’re carrying the unused color behind, if the hat stretches a ton you might see that other color peeking through. So be sure to size up if your little one is between sizes, and be sure to carry (or float) the unused yarn color LOOSELY behind the work so that it won’t pull when the hat stretches. Got it?
