Well, I have to say, preschool germs are kicking my butt. I am not exaggerating when I say, before O started school, I had gotten 1 cold in the three years since he was born. And now since he started school, actually, just since November, I’ve been sick multiple times. This is all by way of apologizing for my internet absence for the last week or so. Did anyone notice the radio silence? I was so sick I pretty much just laid in bed for the entire week. I had a headache for four days straight and my nose stopped working for a week. I could not smell a single thing. Sigh. Should I keep going? Everyone loves hearing other people complain about their health, right? Should I tell you what I had for lunch next? Maybe bore you with a story about having to return something to a store? Or maybe a nice long discussion of a story I heard on NPR that you have no interest in?
Or maybe I should move on to the point of today’s post instead! I have a really easy but very cute Valentine’s project for you today. As I’ve said before, I’m not really the hugest fan of Valentine’s day itself but I love me some Valentine’s decor! Maybe all that pink brings out the little girl in me? I don’t know. Anyway, this one’s so easy I barely even need to write a “tutorial”. But you know what, the easier the better. There’s nothing more satisfying that a project that looks fancy and cute but really wasn’t hard. And that’s exactly what this Simple Felt Heart Garland is: simple and cute!
First, cut as many hearts as you can out of felt in a variety of pinks, reds and whites. I made little paper templates in three sizes and used those to make it easier.
When you have cut all of your felt hearts, take them over to your sewing machine. Using a straight stitch, sew from the bottom point of one heart, straight up to the “v”. As you get close the the top of the first heart, position the next heart so that the bottom point of the second heart lines up with the “v” in the top of the first heart.
Repeat until all of your felt hearts are connected and you have a cute Felt Heart Garland!

This heart garland is so beautiful! I love simple projects like this that have such an impact. I’m sorry you’ve been feeling sick. I know what you mean about preschool germs. I feel like we’ve all had double the colds since my daughter started preschool in the fall. No fun.

Thanks Corey! I had a friend recently tell me everyone builds immunity and is healthier the second year of school, let’s cross our fingers that that’s true!! 🙂

I’ve done a circle garland out of scrapbook paper, that was cute. But felt circles are a great idea! Now, I’m thinking of all the different shapes you could do…!
