This fun new Halloween Spooky Moon & Bat Hat knitting pattern uses duplicate stitch to create the fun spooky pattern on the front!
My new spooky moon and bat hat knitting pattern uses duplicate stitch on a plain gray hat to create this fun Halloween baby hat pattern. If you haven’t used duplicate stitch much, what are you waiting for? It’s so much fun.
Duplicate stitch is also awesome because you can add it to a knitted item after it is finished. Duplicate stitch is actual duplicate knit stitches that are embroided on the knitted fabric after it is complete. It’s sort of like counted cross stitch if that helps. This easy hat knitting pattern contains instructions to knit the basic gray hat in the round, but if you wanted, you could also use the duplicate stitch chart to put the crescent moon and bat pattern on some other knitted item!
I have been wanting to knit a bat shape for ages. And while I do have an actual bat hat (this one cracks me up) in my archives, as well as a very cute bat costume ( I wish I’d hat this hat then), I really wanted to do one like this. But I really hate knitting intarsia. I’m sure I’m not alone. What’s a girl to do? Try another technique!
Since I’ve been doing duplicate stitch and it has opened up a HUGE new world of knitting for me. I can’t even believe the possibilities. Plus, I find embroidery super relaxing so that’s another win for me.
