The Shark Attack Hat knitting pattern is perfect for your ocean loving little one & will give pretty much anyone a chuckle when they see it!
I’ve been wanting to design a shark hat knitting pattern forever. And all of my previous attempts have just not been good. The teeth are hard! They just keep ending up looking goofy which is really not what you want for a shark.
So the other day when I was pondering shark hats for the hundredth time, I had the idea for this hat, the Shark Attach Hat knitting pattern and I am so pleased with how it turned out. How fun is this one?
This cute shar hat knitting pattern is knit in the round with worsted weight yarn. To knit the ocean waves you do need to be familiar with Fair Isle or stranded knitting techniques. It’s just a few rounds though, super easy.
Then, when you have finished the entire hat, the shark fins are added at the end with duplicate stitch for knitting. Bet you didn’t know that was coming, did ya? Much like the shark, it’s a little bit of a sneaky technique for this one but it makes it so easy! And because the shark fins are added with duplicate stitch, you can add as many as you want. I actually put two on my hat, though it’s hard to see in the photos. But it’s up to you.
If you already already know how to do duplicate stitch, this will be really easy for you. And if you don’t, that’s ok, I have a duplicate stitch tutorial right here on my site. It’s easy peasy and this shark fin takes just a few minutes to add!
I really hope you all like this one as much as I do, it makes me laugh every single time I see it and I can just picture a shark fan being very excited about finally having a shark hat. Now back to my sketchbook to see if I can finally figure out those shark teeth on my other version.
