This giant list of relaxing crafts will give you something calming and soothing to work on when you’re feeling stressed!
Rarely has there been a time when we are all THIS collectively stressed out. Am I right? There are a lot of big, scary, stressful things happening in the world. There’s change. There’s uncertainty. And all of that leads to Stress with a capital S.
I have always found creating/crafting/making to be its own form of therapy. When you’re making something, your mind has space to wander and work things out. It also gives you a chance to change the channel in your brain and focus on something else rather than what’s stressing you out.
And in many cases, the actual physical activities involved in craft projects can be relaxing in themselves. Whether it’s the act of making smooth brushstrokes, the calm repetitive nature of needlecrafts and knitting or crochet, or the soothing colors and sounds of coloring, just the act of making can be super relaxing.
In fact, I’ve been seeing tons and tons of recommendations for ideas to do crafting with our kids while they’re all out of school. And that’s a good idea, but don’t forget about yourself! Crafting for adults is just as valuable (and some of these ideas you can even do together as a family!)
So today, I put together a list of relaxing crafts to do when you’re stressed out. If there was ever a craft or creative skill you’ve wanted to learn, NOW is the time…when many of has extra time on our hands that we don’t normally have. Give it a try, see if you don’t start to feel calmer and more relaxed after just 30 minutes of being creative and crafty!
