This adorable fruit salad hat knitting pattern includes instructions to work grapes, cherries, pineapple, strawberry, watermelon and an apple, this is a fun and easy hat pattern!
We are known here at Little Red Window for knitting patterns that are a little extra. We certainly do have easy knitting patterns, but the special magic is the ones that are just more.
This fruit salad hat knitting pattern is no exception. While it’s super easy to execute, it will take a little more effort. But that’s ok because it’s SO cute!
This cute fruit hat knitting pattern is knit in the round with circular knitting needles and double pointed knitting needles (or you can use magic loop) and with worsted weight yarn. The basic hat the forms the background for the fruit salad has been tried and tested by our readers thousands of times. It’s a good one!
Then the different fruits are added after the knitting with duplicate stitch for knitting. Duplicate stitch is kind of a cross between knitting and embroidery and it’s one of my favorite techniques because it’s super easy but the results look complicated.
If you’re new to duplicate stitch in knitting or need a refresher, I’ve got a clear and detailed duplicate stitch knitting tutorial to help!
The color charts for the different fruit designs are included in the pattern and each is separate so you can work them in any order or configuration that you like. If you want them all in a row like the sample, make sure that the bottoms all start on the same round.
If you are knitting one of the smaller sizes, you should stagger the fruits to fit them. Just be sure to plan out your configuration before you start!
Are you ready to knit a fruit salad hat? Let’s do it!
