Pretty Purple Flower Hat Knitting Pattern

This fun pretty purple flower hat knitting pattern uses duplicate stitch to add a violet flower to a cute and easy knit hat!

Duplicate stitch is one of my favorite techniques for making knitting projects more “fun.” This flower hat knitting pattern is based on my classic easy hat knitting pattern which was been knit and tested thousands of times by you all. It’s reliable, it’s easy, and the shape is great.

And with duplicate stitch designs, you can personalize and make pretty much any basic pattern more fun! If you’re new to duplicate stitch, or need a refresher, it’s pretty much a technique of embroidery on top of finished knit work. I have an in-depth duplicate stitch tutorial right here on my site!

The best part of using duplicate stitch for adding designs to knitting, to me, is that is so easy to add lots of different colors. With stranded color work like Fair Isle or Intarsia, as soon as you want to use more than two colors, you’re juggling more than one strand at once and it can be really fiddly and frustrating. This is so much easier especially if you weave in the ends on the wrong side as you go!

Sizes included: 0-3 months, (6 months, 1-2 years, 3-6 years, Child Large/Adult Small, Adult Large) Read our sizing guidelines post for more information.

Gauge: 19 stitches = 4 inches

• Worsted weight yarn
• US 7 (4.5 mm) 16″ circular knitting needles
• US 7 (4.5 mm) double pointed needles
• Yarn needle
