Rainbow Pom Pom Hat Knitting Pattern

This bright and colorful rainbow pom pom hat knitting pattern has cute textured rainbow stripes and a rainbow pom pom on top!

There is nothing on a kid than a hat with a pom pom on top. This year for Spring and St. Patrick’s Day, we’re making a very cute knit hat with textured rainbow stripes. But the best part is a colorful, bright rainbow colored pom pom on the very top.

If you have never made a pom pom with more than one color of yarn before, don’t worry, the pattern includes step by step instructions and photos. But it’s also much easier than you think it is.

For this rainbow pom pom hat knitting pattern, I do recommend using a pom pom maker instead of any other method including by hand or a fork or cardboard. This is one time when the gadget is definitely worth it!

The other great thing about this rainbow knitting pattern is the textured rainbow stripes. You get a lot of bang for your buck but not TOO many ends to weave in. The pattern is also designed to give you a nice hidden transition between the white knit background and the colored purl stripes!

Sizes included: 0-3 months, (6 months, 1-2 years, 3-6 years, Child Large/Adult Small, Adult Large) Read our sizing guidelines post for more information.

Gauge: 19 stitches = 4 inches

• Worsted weight yarn
• US 7 (4.5 mm) 16″ circular knitting needles
• US 7 (4.5 mm) double pointed needles
• Yarn needle
• Pom Pom maker ( I used 1 1/2 inch)
