Knit up this sweet St. Patrick’s Day Kiss Me hat with this fun and easy knitting pattern for newborns, babies and toddlers!
Happy (almost) St. Patrick’s Day, friends! St. Patrick’s Day is huge here in Chicago, they even dye the river downtown green for a day. My family is not at all Irish…at least as far I know, but that’s ok.
What I love about St. Patrick’s Day is that it’s a non-exclusive holiday. I’m sure that was originally not the case given that it’s named after a saint and all but today, at least in America, it’s a fun excuse for everyone to party and hope for good luck. And maybe a pot of gold from a leprechaun.
So I thought a cute little St. Patrick’s Day hat knitting pattern would be fun. Since the holiday is in March, it’s still plenty chilly enough to need a nice warm hat! (Although, as I always say, if you make the newborn size, they need hats all year round!)
Anyway, after a little thinking I decided a Fair Isle hat that says, “Kiss Me…” would be adorable. Technically the St. Patrick’s Day saying is, “Kiss me, I’m Irish.” but this hat’s for babies and we all want to kiss them all the time anyway right? So I thought it was fitting.
Plus you don’t have to be Irish, you go ahead and finish that sentence in your head however you like: “Kiss me, I’m German!” “Kiss me, I’m Chinese!” “Kiss me, I’m adorable!” It’s all good, I’m an equal opportunity baby smoocher!
I also recently updated this pattern to include a row of cute shamrocks around the back which, besides looking adorable, makes it super easy to knit!
