Knit an adorable football game hat knitting pattern including the football field and the football itself, in any of six sizes, it’s perfect for Fall!
Are you ready for some football? Football season is here and my spouse requested a new football themed hat knitting pattern. I knit up a very cute football hat years ago, but this time I thought it would be really cute to include the field.
This cute football field hat is knit in the round with Fair Isle stranded knitting techniques. Make sure to catch your floats (but loosely so they won’t pull when the hat stretches. The hat is knit on circular knitting needles with double pointed knitting needles used in the decrease section.
However, you can use the magic loop method if you prefer not to use double pointed knitting needles! This football hat pattern uses worsted weight yarn. My favorite yarns for this pattern are Lion Bran Vanna’s Choice or Painbox Simply Aran . If you use Vanna’s Choice the colors I used are Kelly Green, Chocolate and White.
After you knit the football field hat, the football shape is knit separately and then sewn onto the hat with the stitches and stripes added at the very end. This is a really fun and easy knitting pattern, I hope you football fans enjoy knitting it as much as I did!
