Well, as I mentioned before, I’m having a little bit of a hard time adjusting to the temperatures in our new old house. We ended up having to replace the furnace shortly after we moved in. Which was an expensive surprise. Welcome to owning an old house! Geesh. So the heat works great, it’s efficient as can be and it seems pretty even throughout the house. But we’re trying not to run the heat unless we really really need to, because we’re kind of scared of the bill. I think I’m struggling because in our old place on the 13th floor of a newish building, we probably only turned our heat on once a year, if that. Even during last year’s polar vortex. I’m not kidding. It was a constant 78 degrees in there no matter what.
Anyway, I’ve been really chilly. We put the flannel sheets on, got a couple more
sweaters, some cozy slippers and I’m drinking a lot more tea, but then I came across this pretty pattern for fingerless gloves, the Herbaceous Mitts from Simply Notable, the other day and I figured I would make a pair. I get the coldest when I’m sitting and working. So fingerless gloves are perfect. I can still type and use my mouse! And honestly, before I finished these I kept sticking my fingers under my laptop for warmth…
These knit up nicely and it was an interesting enough pattern to keep me engaged but not too complicated that I couldn’t watch O or tv at the same time. I used a soft part wool part silk yarn from my local yarn store and I love how they turned out. I forsee quite a few more pairs of fingerless gloves in my future, I can’t wait to pick out a new pattern!
