The cute rainbow ridges hat knitting pattern uses the texture of your knitting plus duplicate stitch to create a fun rainbow hat!

If you’ve been here any length of time, you know I love some duplicate stitch. The Rainbow Ridges Hat knitting pattern uses duplicate stitch to enhance the texture of your knitting. Combined with the decrease pattern of the hat you end up with a fun rainbow swirl of colors on the top. It’s so pretty!

If you are new to duplicate stitch, this is an excellent beginner duplicate stitch project. I have an in-depth duplicate stitch tutorial right here on the site that explains it if you need a refresher. That tutorial contains step by step photos and video so it’s a really good resource if you need it for this or any other duplicate stitch project.

Because the pattern for this hat is based off of the decrease sequence for the hat, you will need a different number of rainbow colors to embroider for each size. So please make note of that before you start. The sample in the photos is knit in the 3-6 year size so it uses 10 rainbow colors.

The other sizes use the following number of rainbow colors.
- 0-3 months: 7
- 6 months: 8
- 1-2 years: 9
- 3-6 years: 10
- Child Large/Adult Small: 11
- Adult Large: 12
