Get your little one ready for Memorial Day, the 4th of July or any time they’re feeling particularly patriotic with my new Fair Isle Stars & Stripes Hat Knitting Pattern!
A 4th of July Hat has been on my “to-knit” list forever. How cute are these bright red and white stripes and fun (but easy) stars?) This hat is a really great intro to fair isle knitting if you haven’t done it before because the stars are a super easy to follow pattern that you can basically memorize so you can focus on what your hands are doing and not so much on complicated counting. Plus it’s only 3 rows of fair isle. I promise, anyone can manage that! If you’re like I was, with sewing buttonholes, just give it a try, it won’t be nearly as difficult as you imagine! Promise!
And yes, before I get many many comments, I do realize, as my husband immediately pointed out, the 4th of July does take place in July. Which is summer. Which is usually hot. But for one thing, little babies still need hats in summer, especially if they’re inside in the chilly air conditioning. Secondly, fireworks take place after dark and yes, it can sometimes get chilly then. And finally, although I didn’t get it out in enough time this year, this hat would also be perfect for Memorial Day. Or anytime you’re feeling patriotic. And I don’t know about where you live, but here it’s almost always cool for Memorial Day. So if you have a friend due with a summer baby, make one, I promise they’ll love it!
